Aquabaires Buceo - Mar del Plata
The team at Aquabaires Buceo feels like your oldest dive buddies, even if you’ve just met. They’re PADI 5 Star, so all the standards are there, but it’s their enthusiasm for Mar del Plata’s diving that really sets them apart. We love that they make the often-chilly Atlantic accessible and genuinely enjoyable, no matter your experience level. You’ll find them running regular trips to the nearby shipwrecks, which are the real draw here. Visibility can be hit-or-miss – think 5 to 15 metres on a good day, often less – but the wrecks themselves are fantastic. We’re talking about proper steel structures, encrusted with anemones and home to schools of hake and occasional conger eels. Our favourite is the fishing trawler *Christa*, which sits upright and offers some great penetration for those with the right training. They’re meticulous about safety briefings and gear checks, which you’ll appreciate when the water temperature hovers around 12-15°C. They know these sites inside out, pointing out where to look for nudibranchs or the resident octopus. If you’re a wreck lover or just want to experience something a bit different from tropical reefs, Aquabaires Buceo should be your first call.
