The **Ciudad de Corrientes** might not be the deepest dive in Mar del Plata, sitting at a shallow 7 metres, but what it lacks in depth it more than makes up for in character. This isn't just a sunken boat; it's a piece of maritime history, an old passenger steamer that went down in a storm back in 1930. We love how accessible it is, a perfect spot if you're looking for a relaxed, longer bottom time without the decompression worries. You’ll find the wreck broken into several large sections, scattered across the sandy seabed. We always enjoy exploring the hull plates, now draped in an incredible tapestry of colourful anemones and sponges. Look closely in the crevices and under ledges – you’ll often spot small crabs scuttling about and a surprising number of blennies peering out. The structure itself, twisted and corroded, creates a fantastic playground of shadows and light, especially on a sunny day. It’s a photographer’s dream, capturing the interplay of history and nature. Our favourite part has to be the stern section, which still holds enough shape to give you a real sense of its former grandeur. Visibility can vary, so we always suggest checking the local conditions, aiming for a calm day to fully appreciate the wreck's details.
