CRUZ DEL SUR - Mar del Plata

Cruz del Sur is one of those sites we always recommend to anyone new to wreck diving, or just getting comfortable in colder waters. It’s a shallow dive, barely 2 metres, so you get incredible light penetration, even on an overcast day. We love how much of the hull is still intact, a proper ghost ship. You can fin right over the deck, spotting the anchor chains, and even peer into the old cargo holds. It’s home to a surprising amount of life for a city wreck, with shoals of silversides darting through the openings and plenty of crabs scuttling over the metal plates. Our favourite part is the way the kelp wraps around the stern, creating a natural camouflage. It’s a site that really helps you understand how the sea reclaims what’s been lost. Go on a calm day, and the visibility can be surprisingly good, letting you appreciate the scale of it all.
