Dos Viajes - Mar del Plata

Dos Viajes, just off Mar del Plata, is a real favourite of ours, a proper old wreck with a story. It’s a fishing trawler that went down decades ago, and now it’s absolutely coated in life. You drop down onto this flat, sandy bottom, about seven metres, and there she is, listing slightly, her structure still largely intact. We love how the hull is encrusted with anemones and sponges, a vibrant, living carpet over rusted metal. You can peek into the holds, or what’s left of them, where schools of small fish like silversides often congregate, flashing in the shafts of light. It’s a site that really comes alive in the late afternoon, with the sun low, casting long shadows and making the colours pop. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, it’s a peaceful, evocative dive, perfect for a long, relaxed bottom time, just exploring every nook and cranny. It suits divers who appreciate history and the way nature reclaims man-made objects, not really one for big pelagics, but fantastic for macro and just soaking in the atmosphere.
