FAVORITO DON ANGEL - Mar del Plata

There’s something about a shallow wreck, especially one so close to shore. Favorito Don Angel, just off Mar del Plata, is our pick for a quick, intriguing dive. It’s barely two meters deep, which makes it perfect for a long, relaxed snorkel or a quick scuba run. The hull is well-broken, scattered across the seafloor, but still holds enough shape to give you a real sense of its past life. We love watching the light play through the water, illuminating the rusted plates and ribs, especially around midday. Visibility here can be a bit variable, particularly after a strong southerly, but on a good day, it’s a beautiful place to explore. Schools of silversides often drift over the wreck, their scales flashing, and we’ve seen plenty of conger eels tucked into the larger crevices. Look closely, and you’ll spot anemones clinging to the metalwork, their tentacles swaying gently. It’s not a deep, dramatic wreck, but it has a quiet charm that keeps us coming back. Best for those days when you just want an easy dip with a bit of history thrown in.
