LOS DOS SOBRINOS - Mar del Plata

We love Los Dos Sobrinos for its sheer accessibility and surprising character. It’s barely two metres deep, just off the coast of Mar del Plata, but don't let the shallowness fool you. This isn't a drift dive for pelagics; it’s an archaeological playground. The wreck itself is an old fishing trawler, broken and splayed across the sandy bottom, the metal hull sections now home to a fascinating mix of temperate critters. You'll spend your time here poking around rusted plating, spotting various anemones clinging to the edges, their tentacles swaying gently in the mild surge. Small crabs scuttle between crevices, and we’ve often seen blennies darting from shelter to shelter. Our favourite part is navigating the twisted metal beams, imagining the trawler’s final moments. The visibility can be hit or miss, typical for coastal sites, but even on a murkier day, the wreck’s form feels substantial beneath you. It’s a great site for photographers keen on macro subjects or anyone looking for a relaxed, easy dive with a touch of history. Definitely one for the logbook, especially if you appreciate a wreck that tells a story without needing a deep dive computer.
