MINISTRO DE TOMASSO - Mar del Plata

The Ministro de Tomasso wreck, just off Mar del Plata, is a proper surprise. We love it because it’s so accessible, sitting in just two metres of water. Sunk in a storm back in '71, this inshore vessel still shows its masts, pushing up towards the surface like skeletal fingers. It’s perfect for a relaxed dive, maybe a long snorkel, or even just gazing down from a paddleboard on a calm day. Don’t expect vibrant coral here, but the structure itself has become a home for all sorts of local critters. We’ve seen small schools of silversides darting through the rusted hull and crabs scuttling over the remains of the deck. The light play through the shallow water is often beautiful, shimmering over the metal. It’s not a deep, dramatic wreck dive, but for a glimpse into history and a peek at local marine life without needing much gear, the Ministro de Tomasso is a charming little outing.
