PRIMERA CLARA DONATO - Mar del Plata
Primera Clara Donato isn’t your typical warm-water wreck dive, and that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't about tropical fish and neon corals. This is about history, the sheer power of the Atlantic, and the surprising resilience of life in colder waters. The wreck itself sits in a startlingly shallow three meters, a fishing trawler that met its end near the shore. We’ve found the best time to explore is an hour or two before high tide, when the water is at its deepest and the light penetration is just right, illuminating the twisted metal hull. What you’ll find here is a wreck in pieces, spread across the sandy bottom, but still very much a wreck. Think ribs of rusted steel, deck plates strewn about, and the ghostly outline of where the wheelhouse once stood. It’s a site for curious eyes, for divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of barnacle-encrusted metal and the way kelp fronds sway with the surge. Octopus often hide in the crevices, their camouflage near-perfect against the rust, and schools of small silversides flit through the gaps. It’s a very accessible dive, perfect for newer wreck enthusiasts or those looking for something genuinely different from the usual.
