The Rio Santiago is a lighter vessel sitting in just 5 metres of water, making it a good spot for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed, shallow dive. What’s left of the wreck is heavily encrusted, a testament to its time underwater, creating plenty of nooks for small fish and crabs to shelter. It’s an easy exploration, mainly the outline and some structural remains, offering a glimpse into the local wreck history right off Mar del Plata. We’d suggest it as a good second dive or for an extended bottom time just exploring the marine growth.
