TRAVERSO NO.16 - Mar del Plata

Traverso No. 16, a lighter vessel that went down near Mar del Plata, is a cool little wreck, perfect for a chill dive. At only 5 metres, it’s a site we genuinely love for its accessibility and the way it’s become an artificial reef. You’ll spend your time exploring the scattered remains, poking around what's left of the hull and superstructure. It’s not a dramatic upright wreck, more a collection of large, interesting pieces spread across the seabed, each one a mini-habitat. Visibility here can swing, but on a good day, the sunlight penetrates right to the bottom, illuminating schools of silversides darting between the metal plates. We've seen plenty of conger eels tucked into crevices, their heads peering out, and our favourite find is often the nudibranchs, tiny bursts of colour against the rust. It’s a great spot for newer divers, or anyone looking for a relaxed dive where you can take your time with macro photography. Go on a calm morning; the lack of surge really brings out the details.
