VICTORIA - Mar del Plata

The VICTORIA wreck is one of our favourite dives in Mar del Plata. It’s a fishing vessel, sitting upright in a shallow 14 metres, which makes it perfect for a relaxed exploration, even if you’re newer to wreck diving. She went down back in ‘83, after an engine room flood, and now she’s a proper home for the local critters. When you drop down, the sheer size of the hull is striking, especially with the way the light filters through the green water. We often find schools of silversides darting in and out of the holds; they catch the light in such a mesmerising way. Look closely at the deck, the cold water corals are slowly but surely claiming it, and you’ll spot crabs scuttling over the rust-stained metal plates. We love swimming along the superstructure, imagining the crew on deck before she sank, and now you’ll often find conger eels peering out from shadowed compartments. It’s a really accessible dive, full of history and a surprising amount of life.
