Recife das Pinaúnas - Salvador & Bahia

Diving Flamingo Rock often feels like dropping into a giant, living kelp forest. The kelp here, especially the giant kelp, can grow so thick it’s like swimming through an amber-colored cathedral, sunlight dappling through the canopy. We've often spotted big schools of Pacific herring darting through the fronds, sometimes with coho or sockeye salmon chasing right behind them. Keep an eye on the rocky bottom for spiny dogfish and the occasional big skate gliding past, and those red and green sea urchins really pop against the darker rock. It's a great spot for those who appreciate the colder water macro life and the unique beauty of an Alaskan underwater landscape.
