OCEAN (PARTS OF) - Flores

We love a wreck with a story, and the **OCEAN** is pure history under the waves. This isn’t about big schools of fish or dramatic coral walls; it’s about a journey back to 1796, when this Honourable East India Company sailing vessel met its end. Submerged in just 3 metres of water, it’s remarkably accessible, making it a fantastic second dive or even a snorkel for history buffs. We’d suggest going at slack tide for the best visibility; otherwise, the silty bottom can kick up pretty quickly. As you descend, the dark timber emerges from the haze, offering glimpses of what was once a mighty ship. You can still make out the distinct lines of the hull, now softened by time and a dusting of sand. Our favourite part is spotting the anchors, still in place, almost like sentinels guarding the past. Look closely, and you’ll see the smaller reef fish darting in and out of the crevices, while colourful nudibranchs graze on the settled debris. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for photographers who appreciate the subtle details and the tangible connection to a bygone era.
