With 203+ marine species recorded in the area - including manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), pygmy seahorses, sea turtles and sperm whales - The Cauldron offers some of Komodo's richest diving. Water ranges 28-30°C, warmest April, May, November.
The Cauldron is a classic Komodo drift. You drop into a wide bowl, sometimes buzzing with schools of fusiliers and snapper, before the current pulls you through a narrow channel. Keep an eye out for white-tip reef sharks resting in the sand and mantas cruising the main channel if you hit it right. It’s a fast ride, best for intermediate divers comfortable with currents.
