Wainilu - Komodo

Wainilu in Komodo always feels a bit like a treasure hunt. It's a relatively shallow, sandy slope, and while it might not have the dramatic coral walls of some other Komodo sites, it’s brilliant for macro life. We often find ourselves spending ages here, eyes peeled for the little guys. Look for the Shimada's pygmygoby darting around, or a bicolor blenny peeking out from its hole. We've even spotted shortnose river garfish cruising by in the bluer water, a bit of a surprise. It’s perfect for photographers or anyone who loves to slow down and really observe the smaller creatures.
