Ray Dive - Lombok & Gili Islands
The team at Ray Dive are our go-to for diving around Lombok and the Gilis. We’ve always found them to be the kind of patient, easy-going instructors you want when you’re refreshing skills or trying out a new course. For anyone looking to escape the Gili T crowds but still wanting that clear water diving, Ray Dive is a solid choice. We love that they focus on smaller groups, meaning you actually get to hear the guide briefings and ask questions without feeling rushed. We've spent some great days out with them, particularly enjoying the drift dives off Gili Meno, where the current carries you past massive schools of fusiliers and the occasional cruising reef shark. They know the quieter spots too, like a particular corner near Gili Air where we've consistently found hawksbill turtles munching on sponges, barely batting an eyelid as you drift by. Our favourite dive with them has to be the Secret Garden site. It’s a bit of a journey but worth it for the sheer density of nudibranchs and frogfish – bring your macro lens, seriously. They’re also great for those keen on their PADI certifications, with a calm, methodical approach that we really appreciate. Just remember to book ahead, especially in peak season, as their small group policy means they fill up fast.
