With 236+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), pygmy seahorses and sea turtles - Gladden Spit offers some of Raja Ampat's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-30°C, warmest May, November, December.
Gladden Spit in Raja Ampat is primarily known for its seasonal whale shark encounters, often from March to October. These aren't the feeding aggregations you find elsewhere, but rather passing individuals attracted by tuna spawning. It's a drift dive, so expect some current. We'd suggest it for divers comfortable with open water and variable conditions, hoping for a pelagic sighting.
