Kakatua Reef in Raja Ampat might not grab headlines like some of its flashier neighbours, but we've always found it a solid, reliable dive. It's a healthy patch of reef, and for us, the real draw here is taking the time to really look close. You'll often spot pygmy seahorses tucked into gorgonians, and it’s a good spot for finding some less common gobies like the Scaly-nape Tentacle Goby or even the tiny Wasp Pygmy Goby if you have a keen eye. We've seen lionfish here, too, often just hanging out in the gentle currents. It’s a great choice for divers who prefer a relaxed pace, those who enjoy macro photography, or anyone looking for a chill afternoon dive without too much fuss.

    Safety Notes

Strong currents typical this month (avg 35 cm/s). Good buoyancy control essential.
