Corde Point - Apo Reef

Corde Point, for us, is one of those spots that really encapsulates what makes Apo Reef special. We love how the reef just drops away here, often into a mild current that you can ride along, letting the drift do the work. The sheer volume of fish can be astounding; we’ve seen schools of blackstriped cardinalfish so thick they create shimmering walls, with little onespot cardinalfish darting in and out. Keep an eye out for the bigger residents too – those impressive banded maori wrasse are often patrolling the deeper edges, and we’ve had some cracking encounters with boomerang triggerfish eyeing us with suspicion. It’s a site that really comes alive when the current is gentle, allowing you to properly take in the details without being swept past too quickly. We’d suggest a morning dive here; the light penetration can be fantastic, illuminating the busy reef. This is a site for divers who appreciate sheer fish density and a good, easy drift. You’ll spend most of your dive just watching the constant motion around you.
