Manta Point - Apo Reef

Manta Point, at Apo Reef, is one of those sites where you know within five minutes if it’s going to be a good dive. The current here can rip, pushing you past schooling fusiliers and triggerfish. It’s what brings the bigger stuff in, and while we don’t always see mantas, when they show up, they really put on a show. We’ve had them circle us for an entire safety stop. Even without the mantas, we love the sheer volume of fish. Look for slender maori wrasse darting between the coral heads, and don't forget to scan the blue for dorado or even a hound needlefish zipping by. The resident horned bannerfish population is impressive; they’re everywhere. The site suits divers comfortable with drift diving and keeping an eye on their buddies. Go early if you can; we find the action picks up before the day boats arrive.
