The Taiei Maru is a solid wreck dive in Apo Reef. An old navy oiler, she rests mostly upright between 10 and 26 metres, making her accessible for open water divers keen on a deeper wreck experience without excessive depth. We’ve found the stern section particularly interesting, with some cargo holds still open to poke your head into, and it's here you often spot schools of silver flagtails weaving through the superstructure. The main draw for us is how much of the wreck is still intact, providing habitat for blue-finned rock cod and a surprising number of multi-barred cardinalfish tucked into the darker corners. Expect decent visibility, though currents can pick up, so keep an eye on your dive guide.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
