TANGAT (morozan maru) - Apo Reef

The Tangat wreck, also known as the Morozan Maru, is a solid dive if you find yourself in Apo Reef. It’s not one of those massive freighters you can spend an hour exploring, but what’s left of the hull and superstructure is nicely broken up, creating plenty of nooks. We’ve found big schools of banded-tail glassy perchlets hovering inside, almost like a living curtain, and it’s a good spot to patiently look for bluespotted shrimpgobies. The coral growth isn't phenomenal, but the fish life around the metal is good, with longnose butterflyfish and saddleback butterflyfish picking their way over the encrusted sections. It’s a good second dive, especially for those who enjoy poking around smaller, more intimate wrecks rather than just swimming past a colossal hulk.
