VICOSIA - Apo Reef

Vicosia is more than just a wreck; it’s a living museum, a testament to time and the ocean’s reclaiming power. Our favourite thing about this site is how accessible the history feels. You can swim right through the ribs of the old sailing vessel, imagining the deck above you. It’s a completely different vibe than the typical reef dives around Apo, offering a chance to explore human history alongside the natural world. We love seeing the schools of snapper and fusiliers that hang out inside the hull, using the sunken structure for shelter. Look closely at the metal itself; anemones and small corals have started to colonise every available surface. It’s not a deep dive, making it perfect for divers who want to take their time and really soak in the atmosphere. Try to hit it on a sunny day; the light filtering through the water and into the wreck creates an almost ethereal glow, really bringing the old ship to life.
