Juliens wreck - Bohol

Juliens wreck is one of those sites we always try to hit when we're in Bohol, and honestly, we think it’s underrated. It’s not some massive freighter, more like a smaller fishing boat, but that’s its charm. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom, fairly intact. We love exploring the wheelhouse, imagining the old skipper, and peeking into the cargo hold where you often find a couple of lionfish just hanging out, fins fanned wide. What makes Juliens special, for us, is the way it’s become a home. Schools of yellow-lined snapper drift over the deck, and you’ll see the resident cuttlefish pulsing with colour changes near the bow. Our favourite part? The nudibranchs. We always find something new, camouflaged on the hull or crawling over the coral patches starting to grow on the railings. It’s a gentle dive, good for photographers who want time to compose shots, and just generally relaxing. We usually pair it with a wall dive nearby, but Juliens itself is a perfect, easy second dive. Go in the morning; the light filtering through the water feels a bit magical.
