Kalipayan - Bohol

Kalipayan is one of our favourite spots in Bohol for a reason. It's not a dramatic wall or a fast drift, but it’s a site that rewards a slow, deliberate dive. We're talking maximum 25 metres, and honestly, you'll want to spend most of your time shallower, really poking around. This place is all about the little things. The reef here is a sandy slope, dotted with rocks and small coral patches. You’ll find some lovely stands of manatee grass, and that’s where the magic often happens. We’ve spent whole dives just watching the tiny critters here: Common Dragonets doing their little dances, Bridled Gobies peeking out from their sandy burrows, and Charming Hermit Crabs scuttling across the bottom. Keep an eye out for the Black Spotted Blow Fish – they’re surprisingly endearing. If you're into macro, this is your playground. Bring a good torch, get low, and prepare to spend some time looking closely. It’s a site for photographers, for patient divers, and for anyone who loves the intricate details of the reef rather than just the big pelagics.
