Diving at Apo Island - Dumaguete
Apo Island, about an hour by banca from Dumaguete, consistently delivers a good day out. What makes it special isn't one particular "big thing," but the sheer health of the reef. We regularly see green sea turtles munching on seagrass, so many that you’ll probably lose count. The hard coral coverage is impressive, especially considering the local fishing community uses traditional, sustainable methods. Current can pick up on the exposed sites, making it a drift dive, but generally, it’s a fairly easy-going experience. Visibility is usually excellent, around 20-30 meters. It’s a solid pick for divers who appreciate vibrant reefs and consistent turtle sightings without needing adrenaline-pumping action.
