MINDORO EXPRESS - Tubbataha Reef

The Mindoro Express isn't your usual deep, dark wreck dive. This roll-on, roll-off ferry ran aground in 2004 and now sits right on the reef crest, a startling sight with its superstructure breaking the surface. We love how accessible it is. You can literally snorkel over the bow, watching light ripple through the cabins just a few metres down. Our favourite part has to be the stern, which drops to about 12 metres. Here, the current often picks up, bringing in schools of jacks and barracuda that swirl around the remains of the car deck. Inside, you'll spot snappers and groupers making themselves at home amongst the twisted metal. It’s an easy dive, perfect for photographers or anyone wanting to spend quality time exploring the details without worrying about bottom time. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs on the coral growth near the propellor. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, with plenty of action on the reef itself.
