Western Rocky Pinnacle, down in the southern Similans, is one of those deeper sites that often gets overlooked for its flashy neighbours. We like it for its topography – a series of large granite boulders and swim-throughs, not unlike Hin Daeng, but with a different feel. It’s a good spot to keep an eye out for bigger pelagics; whale shark sightings happen here, especially earlier in the season. The currents can be a bit lively, so we’d suggest it for divers comfortable in drift conditions, able to tuck into the lee of a rock when needed. We find it’s best done early morning, before the day boats arrive.
