Garden of Eelden - Cocos (Keeling) Islands

We love this site for its sheer audacity – a max depth of 5m, yet it consistently surprises us. Descend just a few feet and you're in a bustling, miniature world. Expect to spend a solid hour just finning around the pilings, peering into every crevice. We often spot octopus here, blending seamlessly until a tentacle twitches, and they're our favourite discovery on most dives. Look for tiny blennies perched on rocks, colourful hamlets darting between the rusty infrastructure, and those big schools of grunts hanging out under the pier. It’s perfect for macro enthusiasts and photographers who appreciate the details; you’ll find juvenile Caribbean lobsters, cleaner shrimp, and more moray eels than you’d expect from such a shallow spot. Forget deep blue walls, this is about intimate encounters and discovering life in an unexpected urban marine habitat.
