Turk Reef - Cocos (Keeling) Islands

Turk Reef sits a little way off Direction Island, and it’s one of those spots that really reminds you why you came all the way to Cocos. The coral here is healthy, a mix of table corals and branching varieties that provide plenty of shelter for the usual reef fish – parrotfish, wrasse, and plenty of fusiliers in the blue. We often see reef sharks cruising the edges, usually a whitetip or two. It’s a good easy dive, generally protected from stronger currents, so it’s a nice way to spend an afternoon if you’re after a relaxed exploration.
