Why dive here
With 113+ marine species recorded in the area - including dugongs, grey reef sharks, humpback whales, sea turtles and tiger sharks - Flat Rock Reef offers some of Coral Sea's richest reef diving. Water ranges 25-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Flat Rock Reef sits out in the Coral Sea. It’s a good spot if you’re looking for a quieter dive away from the mainland bustle. Expect to see the usual reef fish, nothing too dramatic, but the reef structure itself is interesting, with some decent coral cover. It’s a solid choice for a couple of relaxing drift dives.
