Holmes Reefs
Why dive here
With 113+ marine species recorded in the area - including dugongs, grey reef sharks, humpback whales, sea turtles and tiger sharks - Holmes Reefs offers some of Coral Sea's richest reef diving. Water ranges 25-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Holmes Reefs sits way out in the Coral Sea, so you're looking at a liveaboard trip to get here. We've seen some impressive coral formations, big plates and bommies dropping down into the blue. Visibility is typically excellent, making it a good spot for spotting larger pelagics moving past. It's a journey, but worth it for divers who appreciate remote, open-ocean diving.
