Mast Head Reef
Why dive here
With 113+ marine species recorded in the area - including dugongs, grey reef sharks, humpback whales, sea turtles and tiger sharks - Mast Head Reef offers some of Coral Sea's richest reef diving. Water ranges 25-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Mast Head Reef offers classic Coral Sea diving. We've found the wall dives here particularly impressive, with plenty of reef sharks cruising the drop-offs and good chances of seeing pelagics out in the blue. It’s a site for experienced divers comfortable with deeper profiles and potential currents, but the rewards are often worth the effort.
