The Stepping Stones
Why dive here
With 113+ marine species recorded in the area - including dugongs, grey reef sharks, humpback whales, sea turtles and tiger sharks - The Stepping Stones offers some of Coral Sea's richest reef diving. Water ranges 25-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
The Stepping Stones offers a series of bommies rising from the seabed, creating interesting swim-throughs and overhangs. We often find reef sharks patrolling the deeper sections and schooling barracuda hovering in the blue. It’s a site that rewards divers who take their time exploring the nooks and crannies, good for photographers keen on macro subjects and wide-angle reef shots.
