Cod Reef
Why dive here
With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Cod Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Cod Reef in the Great Barrier Reef lives up to its name, with plenty of potato cod lumbering about its bommies and overhangs. We've seen them curious and unafraid, often posing for a photo. It’s a solid day trip site, usually fairly calm, making it a good choice for newer divers looking for classic GBR reef action without strong currents. Expect healthy hard corals and a decent variety of reef fish.
