Green Island’s fringing reefs offer a gentle introduction to the Great Barrier Reef for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed experience. Expect to see smaller reef sharks patrolling the coral bommies and plenty of schooling fish darting between the soft corals. It's a convenient spot, easily accessed from Cairns, and usually protected enough for comfortable diving, even when other areas are a bit choppy. We’d suggest it for an easy afternoon dive, not a deep exploration.
