With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Hanry Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Hanry Reef gives you a good cross-section of the Great Barrier Reef's coral structures, with plenty of branching and plate corals to explore. Keep an eye out for the usual suspects here: parrotfish nibbling on the reef and small reef sharks cruising past. It's a solid, representative dive, suitable for divers who want to see a typical slice of the GBR without any major surprises. We’d say it's a good spot for a relaxed second or third dive of the day.
