Long Reef
Why dive here
With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Long Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Long Reef offers a classic Great Barrier Reef experience, with sprawling hard coral formations creating shelter for a good variety of reef fish. You'll likely spot anemonefish tending their homes and parrotfish grazing the corals. It's a comfortable dive, generally calm and suitable for newer divers looking to get acquainted with the reef system without strong currents or deep profiles.
Safety Notes
