With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Pickersgill Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Pickersgill Reef offers a classic Outer Reef experience, with good coral cover and a healthy mix of fish. We've seen reef sharks patrolling the drop-offs and plenty of pelagic action further out, often barracuda and trevally. It’s a solid choice for divers looking for a reliable GBR dive without the crowds of some more famous spots. Expect straightforward diving conditions, generally calm, suitable for most experience levels.
