Why dive here
With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Rib Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Rib Reef provides a solid day of diving on the Outer Reef. We typically find good visibility here, with a nice mix of hard coral structures and patches of plate coral where fusiliers and damselfish congregate. It’s a reliable spot for spotting white-tip reef sharks cruising the perimeter. This site suits divers looking for a classic Great Barrier Reef experience without extreme conditions.
