With 154+ marine species recorded in the area - including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, tiger sharks and napoleon wrasse - Snake Reef offers some of Great Barrier Reef's richest reef diving. Water ranges 24-30°C, warmest January, February, March.
Snake Reef offers a straightforward dive through typical Great Barrier Reef coral structures. We’ve found decent hard coral formations here, with the occasional parrotfish or clownfish sheltering among them. It’s a good option for a relaxed second dive, or for less experienced divers looking to get comfortable on the reef. Don't expect dramatic encounters, but it's a pleasant enough spot.
