Blue Fish Wall - Sydney & New South Wales

Blue Fish Wall has long been one of our favourite Sydney shore dives, a real standout when the conditions line up. You’re looking for a calm day, minimal swell, as the entry can be a bit of a scramble over barnacle-encrusted rocks. Once in, descend and you’re immediately greeted by the sheer rock face, dropping away into the gloom. It’s the scale of the wall that we love here, truly impressive. Keep an eye out for the resident schooling mackerel, sometimes in such dense formations they create a shimmering curtain. We’ve also had some great encounters with cuttlefish tucked into the crevices, their colours shifting with hypnotic grace. For the keen observer, the smaller stuff is always buzzing – little groups of comettailed wrasse darting between the kelp, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a chunky Giant Squirrelfish hiding out. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration and a good torch, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates the drama of a good wall dive.
