The team at Abyss Scuba Diving are our go-to for pretty much everything Sydney diving. They’re a PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre, which means they’re serious about their training, from absolute beginner up to instructor level. We particularly rate them for their local expertise; they know the dive sites around Kurnell like the back of their hand, and their regular boat trips are a brilliant way to explore spots you can’t get to from shore. We’ve always found their crew to be genuinely friendly, the kind of divers who are just as excited about a nudibranch as you are. They’ll get you kitted out efficiently, and their rental gear is always well-maintained, which isn’t always a given, let’s be honest. For a quick shore dive, we often head out with them to Kurnell, where you might spot seadragons swaying in the kelp or even a Port Jackson shark resting on the sand. On their boat trips, we’ve drifted past schools of yellowtail scad so dense they cast shadows, and felt the cool water around Magic Point, hoping for a grey nurse shark sighting.
