Ex HMAS Adelaide - Sydney & New South Wales

Okay, let's talk about the Ex HMAS Adelaide. We’ve logged a few dives on her, and each time we find something new. Scuttled just off Terrigal, this ex-frigate is a serious playground for wreck divers. She sits upright, pretty much intact, with plenty of swim-throughs to keep you busy – think bridge, helicopter hanger, even the engine room. We love poking around the captain's cabin, picturing the ship's operational days. The Adelaide isn't just about the structure, though. Her metalwork has become a canvas for marine life. You'll spot colourful nudibranchs clinging to railings, schools of yellowtail scad swirling through the decks, and we've even seen wobbegongs tucked into quiet corners. Our favourite part is the bow, where the light plays off the huge anchor chain, often with a curious giant cuttlefish eyeing you up. We'd suggest going on a calm day; strong southerlies can make the surface chop a bit of a challenge. It's a fantastic dive for advanced open water divers comfortable with overhead environments and penetration.
