Wreck of HMAS Adelaide - Sydney & New South Wales

Diving the HMAS Adelaide is a proper Sydney wreck experience. We love this site because it’s a big, explorable frigate, scuttled deliberately in 2011, so it’s sitting upright and mostly intact. There’s a solid amount to poke around in, from the bridge to the helicopter hangar, and it’s open enough that you’re not squeezing through tight spots. Shoals of yellowtail scad often swirl around the mast, and we’ve seen plenty of wobbegongs tucked into nooks. On a good day, with the light streaming through the superstructure, it's really atmospheric, a proper sunken warship feeling. We’d suggest going on a weekday if you can, it gets busy on weekends. And watch for the current, it can pick up quickly, particularly around the bow.
