With 129+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - Eliza Ramsden, wreck offers some of Victoria's richest reef diving. Water ranges 13-20°C, warmest January, February, March.
Constructed in Glasgow Scotland in 1874 for Samuel Ramsden of Melbourne and named after his wife, this ship cost 10,000 pounds. She was a three-masted iron barque 151 ft long and 27 ft wide with a gross tonnage of 415 tons. The vessel sunk in 1875 on her first voyage out of Melbourne when she struck Corsair rock. Maximum depth: 20m. Average visibility: 10m. The Eliza was abandoned without loss of life, but floated free overnight and slowly drifted back into the bay and sank where she now lies.
