Victoria offers some of Australia's richest diving, with 129+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks. Water ranges 13-20°C, warmest January, February, March.
Port Phillip Bay's piers and artificial reefs, weedy sea dragons at Flinders, and the Shipwreck Coast. Melbourne divers enjoy year-round temperate diving.

Blairgowrie Pier
Blairgowrie Pier is located in Camerons Bight on the southern shore of Port Philip between Sorrento and Rye, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. There is so much to see in this constantly changing, colorful environment across all of the different habitat types. Maximum depth: 6m. Average visibility: 6m. Nudibranchs, Dumpling Squid, Southern Calamari Squid, Octopus, Seahorses, various mollusks, Cuttlefish, Spider Crabs, Globe Fish, Leatherjackets, Stingrays, and Banjo Sharks.
Boarfish Reef
Situated in the famous Sponge Gardens, Boarfish Reef lies approximately halfway between Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. It starts in approximately 10 metres of water and gradually increases in depth to around 22 metres in a system of interesting rock formations and overhangs and swim-throughs. Maximum depth: 18m. Average visibility: 10m. Commonly seen are the spectacular Blue Devil fish, Crayfish, curious Leather Jackets, nudibranchs, mosaic sea stars, yellow sea spiders and of course Boarfish.
Captain Nitros' Drop-off
The Drop-off is located on the western end of Spectacular Reef, and consists of a series of walls thatplunge to over 60 meters in 5-10m increments. This makes it a great dive for all levels. Huge boulders the size of houses are scattered over the area, lying where the ancient Yarra River deposited them. Maximum depth: 31m. Average visibility: 11m. Midwater, large fish can often be spotted as they make their way into the Bay and if you are lucky seals and dolphins are also occasional visitors.
Castle Rock
Castle Rock is located outside the Port Phillip Heads in approximately 18 metres of water. It sits on a sandy bottom and rises to around 12 metres. The rock is around 200m in circumference, has many overhangs, walls and swimthroughs, and can be circled several times in a dive. Maximum depth: 18m. Average visibility: 12m. The fixed depth, lack of current and easy navigation make this the perfect dive for newer Open Water divers.
