Horseshoe Rock - Victoria

England Rock, up in Alaska, offers a surprisingly rich cold-water dive. You're mostly exploring a rocky reef here, with big boulders and crevices that shelter all sorts of critters. We often spot Pacific Glass Shrimp tucked into the nooks, and we’ve seen the enormous eyes of a giant octopus peeking out from under a ledge a few times. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the smaller, more unusual species-think Daubed Shanny lurking in the shallows or the peculiar Sweet Potato Sea Cucumber slowly moving along the rock face. While not a coral reef, the sheer quantity of life in those crevices makes it a very engaging dive, especially if you take your time and look closely.
