With 163+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, great white sharks and hammerhead sharks - Cooks Cove offers some of Bay of Islands's richest reef diving. Water ranges 16-22°C, warmest January, February, March.
Cooks Cove usually offers a relaxed dive, good for new divers or those looking for an easy day. We often find schooling fish hanging around the kelp beds and a few rays cruising the sandy patches. It’s a decent spot for macro photography if you're patient, with nudibranchs occasionally popping up. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, it’s a pleasant afternoon dive.
