Noel’s Hole - Poor Knights Islands

Récif Prony isn't about deep thrills or big pelagics, it’s about slow, gentle discovery. We love it for its calm, protected waters, making it an ideal spot to really take your time. Drop to eight metres and let your eyes adjust; it's a completely different rhythm here. You’ll spend most of the dive poking around the coral and sandy patches, spotting Messmate Pipefish hiding in the seagrass or Bennett’s Pufferfish ambling along the bottom. We’ve seen juvenile whitetip reef sharks resting on the sand, a gentle reminder that even in these sheltered spots, the wild still thrives. Our favourite trick here is to look for the tiny stuff – the Banded-tail Coral-cod tucked into crevices or the vibrant Citron Butterflyfish flitting between mushroom corals. Visibility averages 13 metres, good enough for comfortable navigation but not so expansive that you miss the details. It's perfect for newer divers building confidence, or anyone who just wants a peaceful, unhurried immersion into New Caledonia's quieter lagoon life.
